About Youth Club Volleyball in San Diego and Chula Vista

What is club volleyball in the South Bay?

Club volleyball is an opportunity for boys and girls of varying abilities to develop their skills. Club volleyball is much like select soccer and softball in this way. There will be open tryouts for team selections, after which teams will practice  twice a week and play in a tournament every three to four weeks. The season lasts 5 to 8 months. We have a developmental league that is shorter and a less expensive option to the full club commitment. However, club volleyball is a highly organized, nationwide, competitive volleyball network.  Club or Junior Olympic volleyball is part of the recently successful USA volleyball program that brought back three Gold Medals and one Silver Medal from the Beijing Olympics.

Why play youth club volleyball?

Some of the main reasons to play club volleyball are to improve skills, understand the game better, and develop as an athlete at a high level.  The Bridge Volleyball Club is committed to training participants that will  make an impact on their middle and high school teams.  Our experienced coaches teach both fundamental and advanced techniques.

The benefits of club volleyball are endless. For serious players wanting to continue their volleyball career at the collegiate level, club volleyball offers the opportunity to develop their skills during the off-season. Players benefit from over 100 practice and game hours with high-level coaches, as well as match experience during tournaments. Tournaments also allow players to possibly be seen by college coaches, which assists in the recruiting  process.

Who plays club volleyball?

Boys and girls ages 8-18. The earlier athletes are introduced to the sport, the more likely they are to develop the correct technique. Participants from beginner through advanced will receive quality coaching, learn  teamwork, develop self esteem, and have fun.   More experienced athletes use their skills to compete at the regional and national level, exposing them to college recruiters.

Many college scholarship opportunities are available for high-level club athletes. In fact, the majority of the men and women on the USA medal-winning teams were at one time club participants, including Misty May- Treanor and Kerri Walsh.

Where do club volleyball teams play? Currently The Bridge VBC practices at a variety of facilities in Chula Vista, Eastlake, Otay Ranch, and surrounding areas.  We will be moving into the Gonzalez Sports Academy by the end of the year.
